Hi! My name is Lindsey,
I'm 19 and I've been a huge KIX fan ever since my mom dusted off Cool Kids a
couple years ago and played it for me. Who influences you? And what are/ were your methods as far as
learning guitar goes? What's your favorite genre to play?
— Lindsey
Lindsey,
Hi! Thanks for writing! To answer your questions... my influences — There are so
many. I still get inspired all the time by different musicians but my main influences along the way
were: Eric Clapton, Chuck Berry, Steve Cropper, Carlos Santana, Jimi Hendrix, The Allman Brothers,
Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jimmy Page, early Steve Miller, Jeff Beck, Billy Gibbons, Angus Young, Freddie King,
Albert King, Albert Collins, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Vaughan, Hollywood Fats and Kid Ramos. There's
a lot more but that should give you an idea of where I come from. Methods of learning —
by ear from records or CDs or by hanging around and jamming with guitar players who are better than
me — it's very important to play with other people and other instruments —
playing with a drummer or drum machine. My favorite genre — Chicago or Texas blues,
rockabilly and country. I hope this answered your questions.
— Brian
